Guess Where We're Going...

That's right. Washington DC. And Mrs. Esplin is going too. As well as their three ragamuffins.

We think it'll be quite the adventure, and hope to leave Washington DC better than we found it, perhaps improving the democratic process by staging a filibuster or something like that.

This summer is gonna be one for the history books--we have soooo much fun stuff planned. But this trip is our big fam vacay, and I'm stressin'. There is so much to see and do in DC, that we are overwhelmed by all. Tony and I have tried so many times to sit down and plan out the whole trip, since we booked our flights back in March, and we just can't seem to make any decisions. Now we're leaving in less than two weeks. Under pressure, indeed. Feel free to recommend any "must sees" or pass along any insider tips that you might have, as we have gone tharn.

--Smithsonian, specifically Air and Space

--Library of Congress (duh!)
--Lincoln Memorial and have the kids pull out a penny to see if they can find Lincoln.
--Tomb of Uknown Soldier
--Mall
--Capital and Congress/Senate
--1600 Penn. Ave.

Thats all I got. I got a special tour of the tunnel that goes under the capital, if you can hook that one up you won't regret it.

I'm so excited for you and your ragamuffins. For sure the Capital. Just stand in the rotunda and look up. It's awesome. Lincoln monument, Air and Space Museaum AND American History museaum. The kids will love both. I suggest you buy a trolly 'get on get off' ticket. Best way to get around. FYI--the subway is also something the kids would love. Very clean and fast. I'll stop now. Pictures and blow by blow notes. That's what I need when you return.

DC is so fun! I really was moved by the Holocaust Museum, but you know it'll be disturbing.

You'll work it out. You've got to enjoy a little sponteneity anyhow on your trip. I wouldn't worry about planning everything.

I'm excited for you guys, too. Wish Dad and I could come along. We could go see our old stomping grounds in Manassas together and show your little ones where your first boyfriend lived! But, alas, not this trip.

Im sure if you stop by Dupont circle your children might see someone smoking or selling crack...They'll probably really like the hotdog stands too...Or could go do the other stuff everyone else suggested...

I'm so excited for you! You are going to love it and your boys will too. We were there 2 years ago and it was much more fun than I thought it was going to be. My favorite sights were Mr. Vernon(George Washington's home) and Arlington Cemetary. I have an obsession with them anyway, but Arlington was just really neat.

Have fun! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Everyone took all my good ideas. I went tharn myself then passed hraka and now I'm too late to add anything.

The point is... is DC under the 3G umbrella? It better be. Daily pics & posts or else you can't go.

Yeah, if you get to feeling homesick, go on down to Dupont circle to see all the crack action.
I remember when I was in DC, I really liked that one museum. I can't quite remember the name, I was only 8. But, I totally liked it.
