Aunty Em

First, instead of making a gingerbread house this year, we made a gingerbread tree. So much easier. We made it last night, after a very long day, and we were all feeling a little lazy. But it's Christmas time, so we all pretended like we wanted to do it.

I heart this picture, mainly because homer is lounging across the table seductively, squirting a tube of left-over frosting into his mouth, but also because Cord has his Wii controller slung over his neck, and Gus has that dang yo-yo in his hand that he hasn't put down since he got it.

On an unrelated note, it is scary-windy today. The wind was so loud last night, it woke me from my REM cycle at least three times. And this morning, when I went to relieve myself, the water in the toilet bowl was swooshing around. How creepy is that? Never seen that before. It's like the wind had gotten all up in our plumbing or something. But I'm really concerned about our tramp. It blew across the yard, slammed up against the wall, and is threatening to fly over the wall into the neighbor's yard. And that thing is srsly heavy. I put it together myself, and it was backbreaking labor.

Check out this video of our tramp about to blow away:

So then I noticed that the double doors leading to the balcony in our office were bulging and pulsating, like that one door inside the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland (Markie knows what door I'm talking about). So I opened the door to get a better look at it, and the frame is totally pulling away from the glass, and it is cracked right in the middle.

Crikey, right Tom? Can you believe this is happening? Send relief to Las Vegas ASAP.

Whoa wha... UPDATE!

I heard a big crash as I was writing this and look what happened:

Yeah, our porch awning thingy is a goner. And it put a big hole in our tramp netting. Grrr. After I filmed this, another huge gust of wind helped our tramp make a key move on its journey over the wall. So I went out there like a man and pried apart the twisted metal of the awning, the unforgiving wind tugging at my person, and after much pulling and unhooking and uncatching, I got the tramp back down onto the lawn and then "sandbagged" it with a few of those big rocks that make up our back wall-thingy. It was man's work, but I had adrenaline on my side. I swear the whole ordeal was irrevocable.

Maybe it's 'cause you pulled my blog from your friends list, it was just about to get juicy.
Can't wait to see the damage to my house when I get home.

That is crazy. Here I am all snuggled up by the fire place with a little egg nog, whilst the snow is gently falling outside. Did I mention the Christmas music? Oh, and my neighbor just brought me some frosted sugar cookies...
Half of those things are lies, but which half? I mean 3/5 are lies.

Did you scratch yourself after you untangled all the metal? Cuz if not, then it wasn't that manly.

You had an adrenaline rush. It happens. You can google it.

Sucky weather... srsly, I HATE wind. It's a total menace.

Here in Puerto Rico it's 82 degrees and so humid I can barely breathe and my hurrdid is a gonner.

K, I read this a few hours ago and got SRSLY distracted by an early Chrissymas gift!!! (more to come later). Anyway, so NOW I am leaving a comment. First of all, you did that tramp yourSELF!? Wow. ::bowing down:: Secondly, wind is the worst kinda weather imo. The worst. And no way Landee are you already in Puerto Rico. Not yet anyway. But Florida is just as humid and it does damage to the hurrdids.

Our not quite so wild wind came with rain and snow. At least you were out in the sun fixing your tramp. Sorry about your net.

! We were driving through there today! It took us 14 hours to drive from So Cal to Utah Valley due in part to major stormage in So. Utah but going through the Mojave in Cali and then LV it was like our car was getting a facial scrub from all the sand. It usually takes us 11ish.

No kidding on that wind.

Holy Crap! So, did your tramp survive? Sucky.

We had the same type of wind here too and it's super yucky today too.

Weirdly enough, we haven't had any big wind storms yet. But, Sam is putting up the giant lighted star that he made and a big wind is a sure thing now. Wind trashed the last version of the ginormous star within hours...

Holy Crap!!! I remember Vegas being windy but WOW!!! sorry about your awning thingy and your door. I hope you were able to save the tramp.

Yeah, it does get very windy here, and it's a dry static-y wind. But the weather here is fast and furious you gize. Like a Volvo. It was over pretty quick, but not quick enough to save my poor awning thingamajig. And, I was almost impaled by one of the iron bars, Sara. It was a dangerous job, but someone had to do it. Ahem.

Q--I can't believe you were in Las Vegas and didn't drive by my house and stalk me or anything! I'm crushed. And I could have used some help with that unruly tramp.

L--I heart your iPhone.
