Because of the Rain Yesterday...

It smelled really good outside during my nightly "run." Like the inside of a pirate ship.

But there was this one house we kept passing that was drying a load of laundry. The smell was distinct--they use the same cheap laundry detergent as my SIL, Katie Morgan. Every time we passed it, a clear picture would pop into my head of Katie doing that groovy little shoulder-thrust dance she does.
She moved away to Idaho last Friday. Do you think she knows what's going on in my life, that I think of her, and that I still have such a clear, almost perfect memory of her after all this time?

Here's what the sky looks like today:

You keel me. Still putting the word "run" in quotation marks. I am astounded that you can still remember Katie so clearly after all this time. She must have really made an impression.

ps. I think I'm gonna make a perfume/cologne that smells like a desert post rainstorm. Can I count on you to mass market that puppy for me?

Don't forget to add in the cheap detergent smell to it.

I'll tell Katie you said hi when I go over there to watch her dance.

You're like that one Californian twin on Parent Trap. "I shall always remember my grandfather smelled of peppermint and tobacco!"

I wonder what my SILs smell like.....

"Years form now, when I'm quite grown up, I shall always remember my grandfather smelling of... (sniff, sniff)... tobacco and peppermint."

"Well the peppermint is for the indigestion, and the tobacco is to make your grandmother mad."

See what kind of memory I have from smelling stuff? That's an exact quote from the Parent Trap.

I just lost my train of thought...I can't compete with those witty comments...

I love how Erin suddenly became coherent 1 minute later!

Keep up the "running"! Good job. I love how the air outside is after a rain too.

Emily, did you just refer to Erin's comment as witty?

But just so you know, there's really no competition of wit going on here--I appreciate any and all comments the same. (Although, I do find you to be one of the wittiest bloggers I know. Mums the word.) I'm just humbled that anyone besides my mom takes the time to read the junk I put up here.

Am I flattered or creeped out? That smell, you smell is a mix of cheap laundry soup, BO, and desperation.
